Accommodation in Stormsvlei within the Cape Overberg, is generally farm cottages or historic restored houses that offer a visit of yesteryear as villages such as Bonnievale, Riviersonderend and Stormsvlei retain their appearance of a century or more ago.  The route from McGregor to Riviersonderend (river without end) has been described as a route that leads through wild mountains, and remote river valleys that have been bypassed by the clamour of commerce. 

Separating the Route 62 wine route of Robertson, McGregor, and Bonnievale from Stormsvlei is the scenic Stormsvleipoort, a pass that opens out onto a view over the fertile valley of Riviersonderend.  Once through this poort (gateway),  there is a narrow bridge over the river named 'without end', where you enter the tiny settlement of Stormsvlei.  There is a hotel, a holiday resort on the river bank that allows picnics and has braai places and amenities, restaurant and dried flower business.
