Travelling up the Cape West Coast from Cape Town on the R27 choose holiday accommodation from several cottages at Yzerfontein, or self catering and bed and breakfast guest houses near Langebaan - a busy destination for water sports with its golden sandy beaches and lagoon. The casino at Club Myconos, fun-park, quad biking and waterslides are also attractions.  Don't miss the Mussel Festival of seafood and entertainment in October.

The amazing bird life, fauna and flora can be seen at the West Coast National Park, and at places along the 'Weskus' such as Jacobsbaai, Saldanha, Paternoster, Britannia bay and Velddrif. An interesting stop for historic perspective is the !Ikhwa Ttu San Culture and Education Centre  which relates the heritage of the San people of this area.  A range of adventure activities could include 4X4 routes, river rafting, horse riding and others.  An African game farm experience may include a Day Trip Safari to see game such as Lion, Buffalo and Kudu. Of archeological interest is the West Coast Fossil Park

The West coast wild flowers at Post Berg Nature Reserve, Tienie Versveld Flora Reserve, and the Darling Wild Flower Show are annual attractions in early Spring.  The flower region stretches to the coast at the Cape Columbine nature reserve and on to St. Helena bay past Velddrif.

There are many mountain bike events along the west coast, and the Berg River Canoe Marathon in July.  In October, don't miss the Afrikaans Music Rittelfees in Vredendal
