There are wonderful places to stay in Cape Town in a budget price range - both in the City and on beautiful farms in surrounding Cape Winelands. Current perception is that accommodation is expensive in Cape Town...... but this does not have to be true!
Look wider than the city and find a cottage on a working farm (olive-, fruit-, wine- or protea farms abound) - many of which are either near rivers or magnificent mountains and also not far from the stunning beaches of the Western Cape. The scenic farms of the area can be explored for fruit, cherry or strawberry picking as well as olive and wine tasting.
Go outside of Cape Town, experience true Capetonian hospitality and be part of the local community for your budget holiday accommodation. I would suggest that hiking in the fynbos nature reserves, river kayaking, boating, swimming or scuba, whale watching, sea cruising or simply relaxing at a community food market are key to a relaxing holiday.
Eco-tourism within the beautiful indigenous ‘Fynbos kingdom’, penguin colonies, nature reserves and growing number of game lodges offer the excitement of an African holiday and a bit of the wild side.
A good tip for travellers is to book directly for Cape town holiday accommodation with the owners of guest cottages who are familiar with the attractions of our beautiful Western Cape.
