Kirstenbosch Botanical Art Biennale Exhibition

Posted for 8 Sep 2010
The Kirstenbosch Botanical Art Biennale 2010 is taking place at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden from 5 – 26 September 2010.
This established botanical art exhibition has become a well loved and attended show, drawing diverse and enthusiastic crowds to the garden bursting with the promise of spring.
The 2010 Biennale which will feature botanical art from artists all over the country is supported by Old Mutual and will focus on rare, endangered and narrow endemic species to Southern Africa.

The theme of the biennale is 'a beautiful garden within a modern city'.
Artists include Vicki Thomas and Gillian Condy (art featured above) from the Prince Charles Florilegiune botanical collection.  More than 50 artists - some of whom from the Keiskamma art project that produced tapestries that now hang in Parliament - will feature wall hangings , ceramics and also sell ceramic pots filled with succulents.

An art competition is also on offer for high school learners.

Date: 5 – 26 September 2010
Venue: Old Mutual Conference Centre at Kirstenbosch
