About Wildekloof self catering holiday house, Stilbaai: Wildekloof is a smallholding on the Goukou River surrounded by farmland, 6km from the popular coastal town of Stilbaai at the start of the Garden Route (approx. 340km from Cape Town). Accommodation is in a beautiful, fully furnished, spacious house in a tranquil hillside setting with spectacular views of the river from all 4 bedrooms (upstairs and downstairs), living areas and verandah. Tranquil and exclusive use of the house and property offers:

The indigenous wooded kloof in front of the house and the river area are home to many birds and wildlife. Enjoy the exclusive tranquility of the area and swim in the river on a hot day or take out one of our double canoes in the early morning stillness. Watch the sun or moon rising and setting over the river or enjoy the clear night skies away from the city lights while braaing or making pizza outside. |

Attractions near Stilbaai: Stilbaai has beautiful sandy beaches for swimming, kitesurfing, surfing and fishing and a tidal river and estuary for boating, fishing and watersports. It is a centre for whale watching from mid-June to October when the Southern Right whales enter the bay. There is a fishing harbour at the mouth and a public slipway further upstream. Among other sporting facilities there is an 18 hole golf course and horse riding in the summer season.
The area itself is of great archaeological interest, being the site of the Blombos Cave where the world famous Blombos Ochre was found, and of ancient shell middens and fish traps which can be viewed at low tide and are still in operation today.
At the Tourism Bureau in the Palinggat Homestead there is a natural spring where eels can be hand fed daily. Other attractions in the area are
- Jongensfontein, a favourite surfing and angling spot 11km from Stilbaai,
- the Pauline Bohnen and Geelkrans Nature Reserves,
- various farms along the river such as The Wild Olive and Olywen Houdt, both of which serve delicious meals.
